Call for Abstracts
Submission Portal Open 1 June - 1 August 2026

Join us for the 17th North American Crane Workshop to be held in Rockport, Texas, 7-10 December 2026! We look forward to hearing from you about all aspects of crane conservation and research.

The abstract submission portal is OPEN until 1 August 2026 (submit abstracts here). Please provide a concise statement of the topic or issue to be discussed and a summary of the major findings and conclusions. Abstracts are limited to 250 words or less. Your abstract will be reproduced in the Workshop program. Please include all scientific names and follow other Author Guidelines for Proceedings of the North American Crane Workshop. Poorly written abstracts will not be accepted. Proceedings, composed of abstracts and papers, will be published following the Workshop. To view abstracts of recent Proceedings, click HERE.

For this conference we are accepting 3 presentation formats: Full oral presentations, 5-minute Lightning talks, and Posters.

Full oral presentations are an opportunity to give more detail about your work, with time to describe the process and your findings. They will be ~12-15 minutes long with 3-5 minutes for questions.

Lightning talks consist of 3 to 5-minute engaging presentations focused on sharing an idea, finding, question, or update. They are meant to emphasize the objective and outcome or impact of the work. Presenters should plan for a 3-minute presentation and 2 minutes for questions.

A Poster Session will be organized to provide an opportunity to accept even more abstracts and help engage even more crane research! Posters are an effective format for presenting complex or technical methods and results. Because they remain on display for several days, they often give viewers more time to absorb detailed information and encourages meaningful interaction and in-depth discussion between presenters and their audience.
